Happy Shaman Herbs

Lotus

For centuries, thousands of different plants, shrubs, trees, flowers & cactis have been used medicinally to treat the male sexual disfunction, women's libido, anxiety, sleeping disorders, heart conditions, respiratory problems, lung infections, fungal & bacterial infections, drug addictions & withdrawal symptons or as an 'alternative high', sedative, hallucinogen, stimulant or type of cigar or cigarette. Many of these herbs also have a high cultural signifigance in coutries or tribes such as the indian lotus, which is the sacred flower of india. Respectively, plants & plant extracts also play a large part in the pharmaceutical & health industries.

For any person intending to use or consume herbs for medicinal uses or for a legal or natural 'high', it is important to be educated. Some herbs can be harmfull in prolonged use or may contain deadly toxins in the right concentration or even just mixing the wrong herbs together can cause serious health problems. When buying dried herb or extract it is also important to check for the botanical name of the herb as some herbs of different subspecies can employ the same common name but may contain different alkaloids or toxins. Most of these herbs conatin a main 'active ingredient' but can also contain many other chemicals that cause side effects. Finding information on some herbs can be difficult and here we attempt to provide links to information resources for educational purposes.

The following is a list of herbs and their botanical names that are said to have medicinal or shamanic uses and are available in australia as either plants, seeds, dried herbs or extracts. Please note that this list is incomplete and some of the herbs listed here may be controlled or restricted for human consumption or for cultivation in some areas or states. We cannot give advise on the restrictions of these herbs and we do not promote their cultivation or use for means of 'getting high'. This list is provided for information purposes only. Some of these herbs may also be unavailable due to being out of stock or out of season.
